Sara

Border Collie mix - We rescued Sara from a kill shelter. She is about a year old and she loves to play. She does well with other dogs and is a real sweetheart. Sara is in a foster home with two other dogs and a cat, and she is house-trained. She is spayed, current on vaccines, and micro-chipped.

Wrinkles

Pit Bull mix - Wrinkles is one of the 27 pit bulls that were chained to car axles buried in the ground, and other dogs, in the Loess Hills. When Wrinkles was found, she had demedex mange really bad (that is why her skin looks like it does), intestinal parasites, and was severely malnourished. She is cured of the intestinal parasites, eating very healthy, and is undergoing treatment for the demedex and doing quite well. Despite what she has been through, she is the happiest and sweetest little girl ever. She does well with children and she likes to play. She also loves attention and really enjoys a scratch behind the ears from everyone around. She is in a foster home that is doing great work and teacher her how to be a well mannered young lady. Her skin condition is also clearing up very well. The bottom set of pictures are updated ones. Please visit our Loess Hills page to see what she went through and you will see what an amazing dog she really is.
12-18-10 -  UPDATE: Wrinkles is finally potty-trained, her skin has cleared up completely, and she is loving life in her foster home with 3 other dogs and a large red parrot. She no longer has any issues with food or toy guarding and she has really turned into one amazing little dog. New pictures are soon to come.

Bam

Pit Bull - Bam (Formerly Bruno) is one of the Loess Hills Pit bulls that you can read about on our website. When we picked him up from the Loess Hills shelter, he was in such bad shape and so ignored/neglected that we thought he might die that night. He was literally brought him back from death's door and he is finally healthy and doing well. He is very timid and you can tell that he has never had much reason to trust people. He has been in a foster home since he was rescued and doesn't tear up the house and is probably 85 - 90% house-trained (he doesn't like to go out in bad weather). He is a very good dog and there is no way you can't love him. He was in his foster home with 3 other dogs and a cat. He would do much better in a home where he is the only dog and can be the center of attention. He should also be supervised when around large male dogs, smaller ones he seems to have no issues with. He will not start anything, but if pressed, he will definitely finish it. Bam is also not a big fan of men. He warms up much quicker to women and children. I think that if he went to a home with an middle-age, or older, woman that this would give him his best chance to thrive and make some rehabilitation possible. He has been in a foster home with a 35 year old, single male, and he just never warmed up or got to a point where he wasn't scared of him. There is definitely potential in Bam, I truly hope that one of you will give him another chance to find a life that is not full of pain, and torture, or fear. Bam is the true definition of innocence and I know he is worth you taking a chance on.

Jake

Black LabWe rescued Jake from a kill shelter. He is about a year and a half old, and a happy and energetic dog and loves other dogs, cats, and especially kids. He is also pretty smart and knows sit, speak, and will catch treats. Jake is in a foster home with another dog and a cat. He is really proving to be a very good dog, plus he is house-trained. He is neutered, current on vaccines and micro-chipped.

Trixie

Pekingese - Trixie is about 20 pounds, 4 or 5 years old, and a pretty girl. She is house-trained, doesn't really bark and gets along with other dogs She is an owner surrender and very fearful of men, but is getting better with her foster dad. Trixie would be best fitted for a home with only women and no young kids. Her foster mom says that once she starts to trust you she is a very loving little lady and just needs a chance with someone who will be patient and give her some time to settle in on her own terms. She is micro-chipped, current on her vaccinations, and spayed.

Shadow is about 5 pounds and most of that is all heart and ears. He is in a foster home with several dogs and a cat. Shadow is house-trained, neutered, current on vaccines, and micro-chipped.

Jack

Jack Russel TerrierJack is an owner surrender by some people who were gonna put him down just because he has allergies. Allergies are common in many dog breeds and is easily treated with medication. He had been let go to the point where he had chewed all of the hair away from his tail and around it to the point where it was very raw and even bleeding. Once Jack got to his foster home, he was started on allergy medication and has been getting better ever since. Jack's foster family raves about what a good dog that he is. He is good with other dogs, is in a foster home with cats, and does well with kids. He is house-trained, neutered, current on vaccines, and micro-chipped.

Einstein

Boxer / Lab mixEinstein has a very sad story. Both of his owners were diagnosed with terminal cancer within a short time of each and they can no longer care for their beloved dogs. Once you have Einstein's trust, he is as affectionate as they come. He especially loves women. Einstein and Elektra have lived together for many years in their home, and although we know it is a stretch, we would love to find someone who has room in their homes and hearts for both of them. He is house-trained, neutered, current on vaccines, and micro-chipped.

He is loving his foster home and loves playing with the other dogs. He is neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped.

Buddy

Black Lab mix -  This is Buddy-he's a neutered male approximately 6-8 years old.  He is very well behaved as far as kenneling and he has zero potty issues.  He is truly one of the gentle giants-he doesn't jump up on people, very good with adults as well as children-male or female.  He really needs somewhere he can run and get plenty of exercise but any home with alot of love to give would be great for him.
Now that he gets attention and play time he is thriving.
